Trunk Monkey

I caught a commercial for Trunk Monkey over this weekend at my brother's house. This is a riot. It was important to post a quick link to this video as soon as possible. Amazon.com

pimp my ride

This image struck me as funny.

I stopped on my way to my Japanese lesson tonight to pick up a red pen (for correcting all my MISTAKES).

And in the carpark, I happened to see THIS BEAST.

I've seen plenty of random vehicles in my time here (they favour customization... especially flashy lights)... but this was in another league entirely!!

When I came out the store they were pulling away and it was SO slow and juddery. I just hope they don't meet any speedbumps in it...

Yes, there are many many vehicles like this in Japan - especially in the new town where I'm living. There's a guy that's got a huge hello kitty sprayed on the side of his - but sadly I never seem to have my camera when I spot it.

Gotta love those Japanese.

How the Rich Starved the World

Something about the idea of using biofuels --fuels derived from corn-- has always bugged me just a little bit. Sure, there are benefits to the environment and it lessens our reliance on fossil fuels and the middle east and it could be cheaper per gallon. But something about putting the juice from vegetables in my car rather than good old-fashioned traditional petroleum just does seems a little panzy-ish. Still, I was willing to do it, but now I'm not so sure. I've recently become aware of a real reason that it might not be a good idea globally.

The irony is extraordinary. At a time when world leaders are expressing grave concern about diminishing food stocks and a coming global food crisis, our government brings into force measures to increase the use of biofuels - a policy that will further increase food prices, and further worsen the plight of the world's poor.

Like Steven Tyler of Aerosmith once said, "Eat The Rich!" It's just unfortunate that the "rich" in this case turned out to be us.Amazon.com

Dinosaurs and Robots: Charming Lotus Cortina Race Car

Take a look at this hunk of junk.

Dinosaurs and Robots: Charming Lotus Cortina Race Car

Though perfectly charming in every way, the high $59,500 Buy-It-Now price is doing a wonderful job of keeping me from surrendering to the Lotus Cortina's considerable personality.

This care certainly does have personality. Sometimes personality goes a long way. Sometimes it really HAS to. Read more about this car and find the link to buy it now on eBay at Dinosaurs and Robots.com.

Modding Flying Cars

I've been saying it for years now. As a child, I was promised that by this point in my life, there would be flying cars. When I grew up I wanted to fly my car to work every day. It was inevitable. I saw it in Back to the Future II, so it will certainly happen. Zemeckis can't be wrong! But it hasn't happened yet and I've had to get over it. No more! Now I can see from the images and video posted on this graphic editor's site that actually creating flying cars is not too far off into the future. All that was needed I guess was Photoshop. Modding flying cars in Aviary.

Okay, admittedly the videos and images are all fake and don't have any actual basis in a live model available today. However, it's still cool.

Car Buying Tips: Step by Step: The Car Buying Checklist

Hey, so what if the economy is in the toilet. Everybody needs a new occasionally and what you need are the best car-buying tips you can get for free! Seriously!

Many people feel that they know how to buy a car from a dealer. They've bought many cars in their lives and they "don't need no stinkin' advice" to make the best deal they can make.

Before you go into the process of purchasing a vehicle, remember 2 things:

  1. Regardless of how prepared you think you are, there's probably something you missed if you aren't systematic about it.

  2. Most people buy a car every 2-5 years. Most salespeople sell 2-5 cars a week. They have a little more experience than you on "the battlefield".

Here's a step-by-step checklist that briefly describes the process you should use before, during, and after making a car deal.

Check them out at Car Buying Tips: Step by Step: The Car Buying Checklist.
